About You About You

I’ve been drumming since I was 15 and that was back in 88. So you do the math. 😉  I’ve been in Drum Corps, I’ve been in Rush Tribute bands. Played a lot of 80s gigs and quite a few Sundays. I was a music Major at the Univ of North Texas and I love experimenting with acoustic and electronic sounds. While I’m kind of a prog rock / Jazz guy, don’t let that scare you. I always play to the situation. People often ask why I have such a big kit, as if ego is the only reason. LOL.  But I always just smile and explain the concept. The full kit has multiple zones for different volume levels and styles. (funk, jazz, lofi, Rock, etc)  We have come to a place in music now where there is no rule that says a 4 piece is the only acceptable drum kit. But if we’re looking at a cafe gig, I’m gonna keep it simple…   I’ve been in tribute bands for too long and I’d just like to do something else now. I want to honor the Lord with the gift he has given me. There are some amazing people writing amazing songs and I’d love to get on board with them. I’m not just a drummer though. I’m also a Lighting designer, AV nerd, Arranger, Track producer, and show designer.

What Are You Looking For? What Are You Looking For?

If I could have my wish I’d love to play Christian music that you don’t hear in Church. Nothing against Praise and worship but I love songs that deal with the challenges of Life. Bands like Red, FFH, Nichole Nordeman, etc. They make music that connects with people that are hurting but still always glorifies God.  And hey, if we can get funky or a little more musically complex I’m sure God will be ok with it.  😉
